Tips For Temps
If you don't want to be tied down to just one job, or if you're just not that qualified to do anything else, take a look at temping. The pay is better than retail and you get to sit down a lot.

Trendy Agencies for Traveling Temps
This is just a sample of temp agencies available in Sydney. More can be found in the employment section of the Sydney Morning Herald, in TNT magazine and in the phonebook.

Keep More Money In Your Pocket, Legally
There are special provisions allowing foreigners on working holiday to pay fewer taxes. You just have to know who to ask.

FYI: Get Your TFN, ASAP
As soon as possible you should take your passport to the Australian Tax Office in Sydney (100 Market Street, level 3) and register for a tax file number. The office will give you a receipt you can show potential employers to prove you have applied, and your number will arrive in the mail within a couple of weeks. Why bother? With a TFN your earnings are taxed at around 30%. Without a TFN you'll be taxed at 50%.
